The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced and adaptable Maternal & Child Health Nurses to join our casual pool, providing flexible support across our service as operational needs arise.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of settings including centre-based consultations, home visits, and outreach programs, allowing you to maintain clinical variety while enjoying control over your schedule.

With the option to take on on-call shifts, this is an ideal opportunity for nurses seeking flexibility - whether you’re balancing other commitments, returning to the workforce, or looking to supplement your current role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Maternal & Child Health services in line with Victorian frameworks and guidelines
  • Conduct Key Ages & Stages assessments to support child growth, development and wellbeing
  • Provide family-centred care, including parenting support, maternal health and early childhood guidance
  • Promote breastfeeding, immunisation and preventative health practices
  • Identify and respond to developmental, emotional or social concerns, including appropriate referrals
  • Support families through home visits, centre consultations and outreach
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Skills & Experience

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse and Midwife (AHPRA)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Child, Family & Community Health (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in child health assessment (0–6 years)
  • Strong understanding of Victorian MCH frameworks, including Key Ages & Stages
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse families
  • Experience working with vulnerable families and making appropriate referrals
  • Knowledge of Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting and family violence frameworks
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing service needs
  • Experience with CDIS or similar systems (desirable)
