Pentana Solutions has been powering the Australian automotive industry for over 50 years. We're continuing to invest significantly in our product, further enhancing our existing platform with a modern AI-led approach. Around 1 in 3 of our staff use internal AI tools every business day. The work is real, the customers are demanding, and we're hiring.

The opportunity

You'll take the source code, business processes and external references that define Pentana today and turn them into scoped specifications the delivery squads can build from. This is the hardest single problem on this programme, and the most important one to solve.

You'll work hands-on, peer-to-peer with our AI Lead, writing Proofs of Concept to validate solutions before squads commit to build. This role is for someone who likes solving the gnarly problems.

Why this role exists right now

We're investing significantly to move the product forward at pace. The AI Architect is the role that scopes what that actually means, what we build, in what order, with what evidence behind each decision.

You're not building from a blank page. The work is happening. We've shipped voice products in eight weeks and our internal AI tooling is in daily use across the business. Your job is to scope what comes next.

You'll report to our Global Architecture Manager and work closely with the AI leadership team. You'll start in the AI squad, then work more broadly across our delivery teams.

What you'll bring

• AI-first thinking. Your approach has changed because AI exists, not just your toolkit.
• Demonstrated experience on a transformation programme, any industry where legacy was modernised.
• Strong traditional software engineering background. .NET or C# preferred.
• Ability to make decisions autonomously under genuine ambiguity.
• Articulation and influence. You can defend a position with evidence and bring stakeholders along.
• .NET, Azure or HTMX experience.
• Background in automotive, retail or logistics tech with similar transformation pressures would be an added bonus.

What to expect

Two things to know going in. First, the legacy context isn't documented in one place - you'll learn it from the people who built it. Second, the early months are scope-heavy and inherently ambiguous. If rigid structure helps you do your best work, this role isn't it. If you've thrived inside a transformation before, you'll recognise the shape.
