About The Role

We are seeking an experienced

Business Development Manager to drive growth within our Applied business. This strategic sales role focuses on securing new opportunities, expanding relationships with key stakeholders, and delivering profitable solutions.

This position may be based in Sydney or Melbourne and offers flexibility for the right candidate. You’ll enjoy autonomy, the support of world‑class experts, and the chance to make a meaningful impact through solution selling and strong customer partnerships.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop short- and long-term sales plans, strategies and submissions to achieve targets for the Applied business within your territory
  • Identify and pursue profitable opportunities with target organisations
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposals in line with corporate policies
  • Influence tender specifications to include Johnson Controls products, systems and solutions
  • Achieve assigned sales volume and gross margin targets
  • Provide market insights and recommendations aligned with the Applied growth strategy
  • Represent Johnson Controls with professionalism, integrity and commitment to safety and ethics
  • Build and foster strong relationships with customers, providing technical and sales support to Contractors, Consultants and End Users
  • Drive engagement with existing and prospective stakeholders to win new business and expand existing accounts
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of quotations, forecasts, sales reports and expenses
  • Maintain strong pipeline management, including forecasting for sales secured, delivery, collections, backlog and inventory
  • Adhere to Johnson Controls policies, processes and compliance standards at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven hunter mindset and self-starter attitude
  • 5–10+ years’ sales experience, ideally within the Applied business
  • Strong customer relationship-building skills
  • Ability to identify customer needs and tailor solutions
  • Knowledge of Johnson Controls offerings, or the capability to learn quickly
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Solution selling experience, including digital services
  • Strong pipeline management skills and SFDC experience
  • Proven track record of delivering strong results with accountability
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • A well-established network in the local market
  • Current right to work in Australia
