This is a unique opportunity to join RhED (Resourcing Health & Education in the Sex Industry), Victoria's leading specialist program supporting sex workers through advocacy, education, health promotion, and peer-informed support.
As the first point of contact for many people reaching out to RhED, you'll play a vital role in helping clients access information, support, and services that can make a real difference to their health, wellbeing, and safety.
This is more than an intake and assessment role. It's an opportunity to bring your lived experience, knowledge, and passion for social justice into a respected specialised service that is committed to the rights and wellbeing of sex workers across Victoria.
About RhED
As part of Better Health Network's Resilient Communities program, RhED is a service for the sex industry in Victoria. We provide holistic and inclusive services, programs and resources to Victorian-based sex workers, disseminate relevant and current information to the greater sex industry, and to provide sex-work-centred education to the wider community.
About The Role
As the Intake & Assessment Worker, you will be the welcoming voice and first connection for people contacting RhED.
You'll conduct screening and assessment, provide information, brief support, and service navigation while helping clients access the right support at the right time.
Your Role Will Include
- Responding to enquiries via phone, online platforms, and face-to-face contact
- Conducting intake, assessment, and risk screening
- Using your lived experience to build rapport, trust, and engagement
- Supporting community events, outreach activities, and resource distribution
- Contributing to RhED's online presence and community engagement
About You
We're looking for someone who can support clients in accessing RhED services and can draw on their lived experience thoughtfully and professionally to support others.
Essential
You will bring:
- Diploma in Community Services or equivalent
- Experience in community services, health promotion, peer work, welfare, advocacy, or community development
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commitment to the rights, safety, and wellbeing of sex workers
- Ability to work with people experiencing crisis, vulnerability, and complex challenges
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Lived experience working in the sex industry
Highly Regarded
- Qualification in social work, community health, public health, counselling, or a related field
- Experience working within peer-based or lived experience programs
- Experience supporting culturally diverse communities
- Understanding of harm reduction principles
