About the role

The Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of compliance and operations staff and ensuring the effective delivery of regulatory functions in relation to non-emergency patient transport and first aid services in line with the Non-Emergency Patient Transport and First Aid Services Act 2003. The Team Leader uses their knowledge and experience to plan, support, coordinate and administer the team's regulatory functions and monitor and enforce compliance in accordance with legislation.

The team leader will work in a small and busy team that provides support to the Manager, advice to senior executives in the Department and the Minister for Health on various regulatory issues and administers legislation and regulations in various health regulatory domains.

This role sits across the first aid service and non-emergency patient transport function, however may also be required to work across other regulatory areas within the health regulator should a need arise.

About you: Can you demonstrate the following?

Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:

  • leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
  • modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
  • where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
  • pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Coordinate and conduct desktop and onsite assessments of regulated entities, preparing reports, advice, and correspondence as required and taking essential regulatory action when non-compliance is identified.

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

  • Tertiary qualification in paramedicine or equivalent
  • Current Victorian driver's licence
  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations highly regarded
  • Experience in the health service sector, hospital environment or in a clinical/science environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience in regulatory or public policy work as well as knowledge of relevant government legislation.

Additional Requirements:

  • The role may include periods of out-of- business hours work (weeknights and weekends) and travel to regional and remote areas.
