Product Development Chemist - Construction Materials

The Role
We’re looking for a hands‑on Product Development Chemist to join our Technical Team. This role suits someone with or looking to gain real industry experience concrete and cementitious products — and the right attitude to innovate, solve problems, and work collaboratively.
You will lead and support product development projects, maintain our existing product range, and provide high‑quality technical support for our concrete admixture and cementitious mining/tunnelling solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Technical, Sales, and Product Managers to identify and explore product opportunities. Designing and conducting experiments to develop robust formulations.
- Conducting experiments to evaluate the feasibility of product concepts.
- Driving formulation localization working closely with Global R&D teams.
- Preparing trial mix designs (concrete, mortar, etc) / designing experimental test programs to support product development, regulatory requirements and method validation programs.
- Design and deliver lab trials, testing programs, and performance monitoring in line with AS 1478, AS 1012, and other relevant standards.
- Analyse and interpret test results to guide decision‑making.
- Support plant and field trials, scale‑up studies, and product launches.
- Maintain lab operations, equipment, and documentation, and provide guidance to lab technicians.
- Prepare clear, evidence‑based technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Ensure all work meets WHS, ISO 17025, and Australian Standards requirements.

You’ll Ideally Have
- A degree in Science (Industrial/Applied Chemistry or Materials Science preferred) or strong, relevant industry experience.
- Experience in a construction materials testing— ideally 5+ years with concrete, mortar, or grout testing
- Solid understanding of raw materials and their role in formulations.
- Ability to work methodically, analyse data, and make sound recommendations.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills and comfort working across disciplines.
- Good physical capability to undertake concrete and mortar testing activities.
- Proven track record of taking ownership and following through.
- Commitment to learning, adapting, and improving processes.
