Shift Manager

Sharp & Carter

Why Should You Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a manufacturing site that is actively investing in its people, systems and leadership capability.

Rather than inheriting a mature, highly structured operation, you'll have the chance to make a visible impact by developing frontline leaders, embedding better ways of working and helping shape the future direction of the site.

You'll be supported by an engaged leadership team, work alongside experienced manufacturing professionals and gain exposure to the challenges and rewards that come with leading change in a large-scale food manufacturing environment.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Shift Manager to lead a production team within a fast-paced food manufacturing operation.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for the safety, quality, delivery and people performance of your designated production area while coaching and developing a team of Supervisors, Team Leaders and Operators.

The site is currently progressing through a significant operational and cultural transformation, making this an ideal opportunity for a leader who enjoys improving systems, developing people and driving sustainable change.

This role is suited to someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, building credibility on the floor and helping teams understand the "why" behind operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop frontline leaders, supervisors and production teams.
  • Drive a strong safety, quality and food compliance culture.
  • Coach and mentor emerging leaders to improve capability and accountability.
  • Manage daily production performance to achieve operational targets.
  • Lead problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the implementation and embedding of change management initiatives.
  • Drive engagement and foster a positive, people-focused culture.
  • Identify and eliminate sources of waste, downtime and inefficiency.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality and planning teams to optimise performance.
  • Monitor and report on key production KPIs.

The Ideal Candidate for This Position Will Have Experience in the Following

  • Food manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Leading teams within a high-volume production environment.
  • Coaching and developing frontline leaders and supervisors.
  • Managing employee performance, engagement and conflict resolution.
  • Driving change and influencing cultural improvement initiatives.
  • Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Delivering operational results through strong people leadership.
  • Working within complex manufacturing environments where systems and processes are still evolving.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage teams at all levels.
