Kingston Veterinary Hospital is looking for an experienced Veterinarian (5+ years) to join our thriving small animal practice in Melbourne’s bayside suburb of Mentone as our Lead Veterinarian.

At Kingston, you'll join a well-established practice with a loyal client base, modern equipment, and a genuinely supportive team culture. Our team currently consists of 4 veterinarians, awesome experienced nurses, dedicated client care professionals, and a fantastic Practice Manager who keeps everything running smoothly.

We pride ourselves on maintaining high clinical standards while fostering an environment where our people can learn, grow, and enjoy coming to work every day.

What your day to day could look like:

  • A balanced mix of consulting, surgery, diagnostics, and case management (depending on the team & your clinical interest).

  • Exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, including orthopaedics

  • Daily case rounds to collaborate, discuss challenging cases, and share knowledge

  • Fortnightly veterinarian meetings focused on clinical development and team alignment

  • Opportunities to mentor and support veterinarians and nursing team members

  • Working alongside a highly experienced and supportive team that values collaboration

  • No after-hours or Sunday work, allowing you to maintain genuine work-life balance

Our Clinic is equipped with

  • Digital radiography

  • Dental radiography

  • Ultrasound

  • Endoscopy

  • Electrocautery

  • In-house pathology and urinalysis

  • Modern surgical and diagnostic equipment

You'll have the tools, support, and autonomy to practise excellent medicine and surgery.

The Leadership Opportunity

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the veterinary team

  • Mentor and develop veterinarians at varying stages of their careers

  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and supportive team culture

  • Assist with clinical standards, case discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Work closely with the Practice Manager and broader leadership network

  • Contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the clinic

We are looking for a Lead veterinarian who:

  • Holds a BVSc (or equivalent) and is eligible for veterinary registration in Victoria

  • Has 5+ years of experience in small animal practice

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Enjoys mentoring and supporting colleagues

  • Has previous leadership experience or a genuine interest in developing leadership capabilities

  • Is committed to high clinical standards and exceptional patient care

  • Values teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement
