About the role
This role is a hands-on Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) position focused on building a safe, compliant and proactive workplace culture across the business. Reporting to the WHS Manager, the role is responsible for providing expert safety advice, driving WHS initiatives, supporting compliance obligations and partnering closely with leaders and employees across multiple operational areas.
The position plays a key role in ensuring the organisation meets all relevant WHS legislation, policies and procedures while continuously improving safety systems, processes and workplace behaviours. It combines operational safety support with strategic project work, stakeholder engagement and team leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing specialist WHS advice, guidance and training to managers, leaders and employees
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing improvement of WHS policies, procedures and management systems
- Conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Monitoring compliance with WHS and WorkCover legislation and reporting requirements
- Analysing safety data, trends and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities
- Developing high-quality reports, presentations, training resources and safety communications
- Managing WHS projects and initiatives aimed at improving workplace safety outcomes
- Coaching and supporting WHS team members in injury management and general WHS activities
- Building strong working relationships across a diverse stakeholder group to positively influence safety culture and engagement
About you
- Formal WHS qualification or recognised equivalent, with a minimum Certificate IV in WHS
- 5+ years’ practical experience within WHS/OHS or a similar blended safety-focused role
- Strong working knowledge of WHS and WorkCover legislation, regulations and management practices
- Ability to interpret, apply and communicate legislative requirements in a practical business setting
- Experience managing multiple tasks, projects and competing priorities within a dynamic environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, policies, presentations and training materials
- Ability to influence stakeholders and promote positive safety behaviours across all levels of the organisation
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
- Confidence working collaboratively with diverse teams and operational stakeholders
