Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Grade 2 Paediatric Speech Pathologists to join the Paediatric Feeding Service and/or Developmental Paediatrics team.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic Grade 2 Paediatric Speech Pathologist to join our supportive and growing Allied Health team. This position has become available due to an internal secondment and offers the opportunity to work within the Paediatric Feeding Service and/or Developmental Paediatrics Clinics.
The role provides specialised assessment and intervention for children with feeding, swallowing, and communication difficulties, including children with developmental needs and medical complexity. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team alongside Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Developmental Paediatricians, and other allied health clinicians to deliver coordinated, family-centred care.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding paediatric service area, with recent funding growth creating strong potential for ongoing employment opportunities beyond the initial appointment period.
Part-time and full-time applications will be considered working fixed term position until November 2026.
This role is responsible for
- Delivering evidence-based assessment and intervention for paediatric feeding, swallowing, and communication disorders.
- Supporting children with complex feeding needs, including tube feeding and transition to oral intake.
- Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary paediatric teams to optimise outcomes for children and families.
- Providing education, supervision, and support to students and junior staff.
- Participating in quality improvement, service development, and innovation initiatives across paediatric speech pathology services.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative, and family-centred clinical environment.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment and management of paediatric feeding, swallowing, and/or communication disorders.
- Experience working with children with developmental, communication, and/or complex feeding needs.
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary paediatric teams.
- Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, teaching, and support to students and/or junior clinicians.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse children and families.
- Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
