Senior Project Manager - Newbuild & Fit - Out / Refurb

Great opportunity to work with a growing refurb and new build contractor with an excellent culture. Projects will be with blue chip clients from smaller to $15m+ across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education etc. sectors.

A market leading team with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their growing business.

This role will be concentrating on the new build and heavy structural refurbishment projects. Will ideally have proven delivery experience across:

  • Industrial new build and brown field & commercial new build
  • Heavy refurbishment & large-scale fit-out
  • Exposure to fit-out and upgrade projects
  • Experience delivering $1m – $15m projects
  • Ideally someone who can support growth of the VIC business, excellent progression opportunities
  • Strong commercial capability - Forecasting, cost control, claims, variations, EOTs, Ability to own projects end-to-end and manage client relationships, Experience mentoring junior team members and Comfortable working in D&C / partially documented environments.

As Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the daily delivery of high quality and on-time construction projects, ensuring that the projects are completed to documented drawings, specifications and nominated timeframes.

You will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the project teams in the management and administration of contracts throughout the project life cycle. In addition, you will ensure that the high quality and profitability of the projects are maintained while financial and contractual risks are minimised.

Responsibilities include but not limited to

  • Administer the head contract and subcontracts
  • Negotiate and let subcontracts against budget
  • Act as team leader throughout tender process and throughout the delivery of the project
  • Develop construction methodologies that win tenders
  • Design comprehensive project programs and communicate to team
  • Identify and manage construction risk through all projects, escalating issues when required
  • Manage project expenditure and cashflow
  • Develop a thorough project completion plan
  • Manage defect identification and rectification
  • Provide coaching and guidance to project team

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or similar
  • Minimum 7 to 15 years+ experience in the successful delivery of projects from start to finish with a fit-out contractor or builder
  • Proven leadership ability in building and motivating teams
  • Detailed knowledge of local council and regulatory requirements / standards
  • Strong project financial reporting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
