We offer student workshops designed to nurture emerging talent across acting, performance, and theatre craft — and we are seeking an enthusiastic Marketing Intern to help grow and sustain participation.

Role Overview

The Volunteer Marketing Intern will play a key role in increasing enrolments for Brisbane Arts Theatre’s student workshops. This role combines research, strategy, and hands-on execution, with a primary focus on identifying and developing effective marketing pipelines to attract students. This role has the opportunity to expand the longer you are with the company.

You will gain practical experience in arts marketing while making a measurable impact on the growth of our education programs and community.

The role has a minimum of 7 hours on site per week to start with. Over time, this can be transitioned to less time on site but with a minimum of 2 hours on site per week.

Key Responsibilities

Pipeline Development & Research

  • Identify, research, and map potential enrolment pipelines, including:
  • Schools (primary, secondary, drama departments)
  • Community groups and youth organisations
  • Performing arts networks and studios
  • Any other ideas you bring to the table
  • Evaluate and prioritise high-potential channels for student recruitment
  • Develop outreach strategies tailored to each audience segment

Outreach & Partnerships

  • Initiate and support outreach to schools and community organisations
  • Help build partnerships that create sustainable enrolment pathways
  • Assist in coordinating promotional visits, events, or presentations

Marketing Strategy Execution

  • Assist in developing and executing targeted marketing campaigns to drive workshop enrolments
  • Create and schedule content across digital channels (social media, email, website updates)
  • Support the development of promotional materials (flyers, digital ads, newsletters)
  • Track campaign performance and recommend improvements

Content & Brand Support

  • Contribute to storytelling around workshops, students, and theatre experiences
  • Capture and repurpose content (photos, testimonials, short videos) where possible
  • Ensure messaging aligns with Brisbane Arts Theatre’s tone and brand identity

Data & Reporting

  • Track leads, enquiries, and conversions across different channels
  • Maintain simple reporting dashboards (e.g. spreadsheets)
  • Provide insights on what’s working and opportunities to optimise enrolment funnels

Skills & Experience (Preferred)

  • Studying or recently completed studies in marketing and/or communications
  • Strong interest in theatre, performing arts, or creative industries
  • Basic understanding of digital marketing (social media, email, content marketing)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and organisational abilities
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working both independently and as a member of a small team
  • Familiarity with tools like Canva, social media platforms, or email marketing tools (desirable)
