Where you'll be working

Southcare Aged & Extended Community Care is a key division of the Sutherland Hospital and Community Health Service, delivering integrated, person-centred care to the Sutherland Shire Community. Southcare provides a comprehensive range of services, predominantly supporting frail older people and individuals living with disability to remain save and well in their homes.

The Generalist Community Nursing Team delivers post-acute nursing care across the Shire, supported by a broader suite of specialised and outreach services

The Nurse Manager – Aged, Rehabilitation and Extended Care (Southcare provides strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio. This includes the Sutherland Transitional Aged Care Service, outreach services inclusive of the Geriatric Flying Squad, Aged Care Services Assessment Team (ASET) and Southcare Outreach teams, as well as oversight of inpatient aged care and rehabilitation services.

Working in partnership with the Co-Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for service delivery, workforce management and continuous improvement, ensuring high-quality, patient centred care across all settings. This role leads service development, manages resources effectively, and drives integration across community and inpatient services.

Reporting to the Co-Director Nursing Midwifery & Operations (Medicine, Aged, Rehabilitation and Extended Care, Southcare, Cancer, Outpatient and Women's and Children's Health Services), the position is an active member of the Nursing & Midwifery Executive Team, and contributes to the development and implementation of SESLHD strategic priorities, while operating within established professional reporting structures.

Selection Criteria

1. Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery board of Australia (AHPRA); and a current Driver Licence.

2. Recognised tertiary management qualifications or working toward same, with evidence of ongoing professional development to further enhance leadership and management capabilities.

3. Recent broad clinical, operational and strategic management experience at a senior level within a complex health care environment, with the ability to function effectively as part of a senior management team and work collaboratively across disciplines.

4. Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate and, where appropriate, incorporate emerging trends in clinical practice, service delivery and models of care to support service improvement and change.

5. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate inspire and organise staff to achieve organisational, program and professional outcomes.

6. Demonstrated experience in the application of change management principles and achievement of measurable outcomes.

7. Demonstrated experience in financial management, including the ability to develop and implement financial strategies and achieve performance targets.

8. Highly developed verbal, written and negotiation skills, with the ability to utilize relevant information technology platforms and prepare clear and concise reports and business plans
