We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Wound Care to provide expert clinical leadership in the prevention, assessment, and management of complex wounds. This role is integral to improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and service development across inpatient and community settings. Remuneration: $2,780 - $2,835.50 per week

Where you’ll be working: Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.

What you’ll be doing: The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert nursing who will provide leadership, advice, and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices. The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis. The CNC will work according to the Departmental safe work methods and guidelines. The incumbent must adhere to all NSWHealth and NSLHD Policies and Procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced clinical expertise in wound assessment, management, and prevention
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based wound care practices
  • Deliver specialist consultation and support to clinicians across the organisation
  • Promote best practice in pressure injury prevention and chronic wound management
  • Lead and contribute to clinical governance, quality, and safety initiatives
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs for nursing and multidisciplinary staff
  • Participate in research, audit, and quality improvement activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care and service delivery
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and contribute to reporting on key performance indicators

Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria

  • Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with experience using MS Office programs and electronic filing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
