About the role
We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our highly accomplished Business and Private Client Advisory division, which supports a range of small, medium and large private businesses and family groups, along with some not-for-profit and foreign owned businesses. We offer a wide range of services including accounting and tax compliance, business and tax advisory, structuring, superannuation, wealth management and transactional services.
This Manager role is unique at SW. It is designed as parental leave cover, with the successful candidate stepping into defined periods of leave to support teams and client portfolios for a specific period of time. Rather than being permanently aligned to one partner or team, the role will intentionally transition between different teams and portfolios as each parental leave cover period concludes, helping ensure continuity and support for both clients and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Support client portfolios and team delivery across multiple teams and states during defined parental leave cover periods
- Achieve productivity targets and client budgets; deliver value-added services
- Support and lead team members for optimal performance
- Allocate staff and resources to meet client and firm commitments
- Identify and develop potential business opportunities
- Actively participate in BPCA management team
- Attend manager meetings and conferences
- Advise Associate Directors and Directors of any necessary matters
- Ensure administrative compliance
- Perform other duties as required, including interviewing staff, training, committee membership, marketing, and special projects
Skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Business Services environment in a Chartered/CPA accounting practice
- Degree and CA/CPA qualified
- Up-to-date technical knowledge of taxation law and accounting developments
- Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
- Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures
- Thorough understanding of company secretarial matters
- Ability to review the work of junior members of staff and identify any issues and opportunities for discussion
- Previous experience working with and developing good relationships with clients
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines for a large group of clients
- Excellent staff leadership skills and prior experience managing a group of people
- Professional presence with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility for ad hoc travel and work across various locations
- Flexible mindset and approach
- Proficient with Xero, MYOB, Reckon, and Microsoft Excel
