Your Opportunity
Due to exciting growth and an expanding portfolio, we have a newly shaped Leader System Performance and Risk in our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery group.
This role sits in our Integrated Planning team, who are essential in shaping the vision and objectives of our policies and servicing strategies. The team is responsible for building, adapting, and implementing plans for wastewater catchments, water supply zones, and data systems to define performance targets, establish investment pathways, and develop Strategic Business Cases - all driving an affordable, sustainable, and deliverable portfolio to achieve key objectives.
The Leader System Performance & Risk is accountable for the development, governance, and application of Urban Utilities' system performance and risk insight capability. This role defines and enables how Integrated Planning makes consistent, risk-informed and performance-driven decisions. You will own the frameworks, methodologies, models, data flows, and digital products that ensure system performance and risk information is defined, governed, and managed as a strategic enterprise asset across its full lifecycle.
Leading a specialist team, the role leads the management of data integration into the Integrated Planning portal and business intelligence applications, interfacing with key stakeholders across the organisation to continuously improve Integrated Planning decision making.
Some of your accountabilities will include:
- Govern UU's data foundation – establishing master data management, medallion architecture, and cross-domain integration to transform raw operational data into trusted, business-ready intelligence for Integrated Planning.
- Define, document, and maintain the system performance metrics framework for Integrated Planning, aligning service value measures with regulatory, operational, and strategic requirements.
- Own the development, governance, and application of risk assessment frameworks and quantitative risk models as critical inputs to asset renewals planning, ensuring methodologies are documented, auditable, and outputs reach decision-makers.
- Develop stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure mutually beneficial relationships support performance and risk governance across the organisation.
- Lead, develop, and motivate the System Performance and Risk team, championing digital innovation and embedding a culture of analytical rigour and evidence-based decision-making.
About You
We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future and, ideally, have the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
- You have leadership experience and develop team capability through coaching, performance feedback, and encouraging career development.
- You have a growth mindset and are highly collaborative. You can influence stakeholders, collaborate cross-functionally to deliver outcomes, and can simplify complex information for robust decision making.
- Extensive experience in digital systems, data analytics, performance reporting, risk assessment, and business intelligence in an infrastructure, utilities, or resources context.
- Strong capability in SQL, Power BI, Python or R, and data visualisation tools.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Geospatial Information Systems, or equivalent experience and specialist professional development.
