About the Role

HBF is seeking a Deputy Company Secretary to support high-quality governance across the organisation. Reporting to the Company Secretary, this is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact role with direct exposure to an accomplished Board and Executive Team. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working at the heart of the organisation, partnering closely with, and advising, the Board, Executive Team and senior leadership.
  • Leading the delivery of company secretarial services for Board Committees, Management Committees and subsidiary entities including agenda management, paper review, minute-taking, and action tracking.
  • Maintaining and developing governance frameworks, policies, charters, and registers in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Contributing to HBF's AGM and Council Governance processes.
  • Supporting compliance with APRA prudential standards and other regulatory obligations relevant to HBF's governance arrangements.
  • Driving continuous improvement in HBF's governance practices as the organisation grows and the external environment evolves.

This role is open to candidates based in Perth, Sydney or Melbourne.

About You

You are an experienced governance or company secretarial professional who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment and is passionate about improving governance practices and delivering quality outcomes.

Highly organised and calm under pressure, you know how to proritise what matters and bring judgement, discretion and exceptional attention to detail to your work. Ideally, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in law, governance or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in a company secretarial or senior governance role, ideally within financial services, insurance, or another APRA-regulated entity.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Boards or Board Committees at a large or complex organisation.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to prepare complex minutes and governance papers.
  • Confidence and professionalism to engage and build relationships with Directors, the CEO, and Executive Team with discretion and authority.
  • Membership of the Governance Institute of Australia or equivalent professional body is highly regarded.
  • Experience with board portal platforms, such as Diligent, is advantageous.
