What this role is all about

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Perth office.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex mechanical building services projects across sectors including Defence, Health, Correctional, Education, Infrastructure, and Advisory Services.

You’ll operate within a supportive, high-performing environment while collaborating nationally under our One Lucid ethos.

You will combine technical depth with leadership influence — guiding delivery, mentoring emerging professionals, and contributing to business growth through quality, credibility, and client trust.

How you’ll contribute day-to-day

  • Work collaboratively with clients, engineers and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Support the development of emerging professionals through coaching, mentoring and technical problem-solving
  • Support national mechanical development initiatives and participate in national meetings
  • Apply and interpret Australian Standards, the National Construction Code and relevant building services regulations
  • Implement system designs in accordance with Australian, International Standards, and relevant engineering guidelines.
  • Undertake mechanical and computational calculations
  • Deliver design, documentation, reporting and consulting services across a variety of mechanical systems including chilled and heating hot water systems, gas heating systems, DX systems, compressed air, gasses, and BMS
  • Lead multidisciplinary projects and complete mechanical projects
  • Attend site inspections and project meetings, preparing and reviewing reports and minutes
  • Undertake quality assurance reviews for mechanical engineering work prior to release
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers
  • Represent Lucid at industry and client engaging events
  • Maintain high standards of communication, organisation and continuous improvement

What sets you up for success

To thrive in this role, you’ll be someone who:

  • Has 8+ years’ building services experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Holds an Australian-recognised degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services
  • Demonstrates strong team engagement and collaboration
  • Communicates confidently, both written and verbally
  • Is an Australian Citizen or holds permanent working rights in Australia
  • Is a Chartered Engineer (preferred) or progressing toward chartership with Engineers Australia
  • Has previous experience with REVIT and AutoCAD, including knowledge of Level of Detail (LoD) protocols
  • Understands Quality Assurance systems and procedures
  • Has strong knowledge of the National Construction Code / Building Code of Australia
  • Shows a strong willingness to learn and continuously improve
