Building Decommissioning Manager

THE ROLE

The Building Decommissioning Manager is responsible for the management and delivery of decommissioning works for the High Rise Towers and prepare the towers for redevelopment. The role will require a dynamic, flexible, and experienced candidate with experience in all facets of project management including coordinating procurement processes, managing budgets, people management, providing advice, and building strong stakeholder relationships to deliver key project outcomes.

The Manager will also play a critical role in contributing to the redevelopment of the Towers which includes but not limited to future proofing the inground services, contribution to the demolition works, review of the site plans and provide expert opinion using local knowledge to avoid any business disruption to neighbourhood.

The Manager is responsible for the management of the announced Towers and manage multiple contracts, engage architects/fire engineers and specialist conatrctors to address decommissioning of critical assets. The role involves responsive maintenance of the announced towers which includes after hour coorindation the works.

The management of the towers includes but not limited to:

  • Coordination with contractors and local housing office to decommission engineering assets including but not limited to boilers, generators, electrical switchboards and hydraulic systems.
  • Coordinate with program consultants and contractors to enhance security of the decanted sites to avoid future vandalism, squattering and anti-social behaviour.
  • Coordinate with relocation team, redevelopment team and provide update on decommissioned units which includes removal of bio-hazardous materials, all live fixtures such as gas stoves, electrical equipment.
  • Upkeep of the decommissioning budgets and provide forecast to the stakeholders.
  • Ensure all underground and above ground services are decommissioned in a safe manner to ensure neighbouring developments are not impacted.
  • Coordinate with supply authorities to perform decommissioning of their asset is completed in an amicable way.
  • Assist in providing advice to stakeholders and assisting in the preparation and presentation of reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on a range of matters.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

(a) Assisting in research, analysis and implementation of projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.

(b) Supporting the development and delivery of projects or sub-projects and their successful delivery and completion within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.

(c) Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach.
