Senior Accountant -Tech (Contract)

Location: Melbourne, VIC (Hybrid)

Duration: Initial 6 month contract

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CA-qualified Senior Accountant to join a global organisation with a strong international footprint. Based in Melbourne, this role will support the local finance team while working closely with offshore stakeholders across a complex, fast-paced environment.

This position is ideal for a technically strong accountant looking to leverage their expertise in financial reporting, compliance, and business partnering within a multinational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare financial statements and reports in line with AASB/IFRS and group reporting requirements
  • Maintain the general ledger, including preparation and review of journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, intercompany)
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Support statutory reporting, audits, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with global finance teams to meet group deadlines and reporting standards
  • Assist with intercompany reconciliations and consolidation inputs
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to support business decision-making
  • Contribute to budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Identify and drive process improvements and efficiencies, including involvement in finance transformation initiatives

About You

  • CA qualified (essential)
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in a similar industry (e.g. infrastructure, energy, utilities, engineering, or other asset-intensive sectors)
  • Experience working within a multinational or global environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of AASB/IFRS and financial reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing month-end processes and audit deliverables
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage local and international stakeholders
