About the role
We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Consultant to lead and support enterprise SAP landscapes across ECC and S/4HANA environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP system administration, kernel upgrades, application upgrades, patch management, performance tuning, high availability, and SAP landscape transformation initiatives.
You will work closely with infrastructure, security, application, and cloud teams to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing SAP environments across on-premise and cloud platforms. The role works closely with program leadership, business stakeholders and delivery teams to balance risk, compliance and delivery outcomes in large, multi-party and agile environments.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Administer and support SAP landscapes including SAP ECC, S/4HANA, Solution Manager, BW, PI/PO, Fiori, Gateway, and SAP HANA systems
- Perform SAP Kernel upgrades, Support Package Stack (SPS) updates, and patching activities
- Execute SAP application upgrades and system refreshes/migrations
- Manage SAP installations, system copies, client copies, and post-copy automation activities
- Perform SAP HANA database administration including backup/recovery, replication, and performance monitoring
- Monitor and optimize SAP system performance, workload balancing, and capacity planning
- Configure and maintain SAP transport management system (TMS)
- Support SAP security administration activities in collaboration with security teams
- Troubleshoot SAP Basis, OS, database, interface, and connectivity issues
- Manage SAP startup/shutdown procedures and scheduled maintenance activities
- Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
- Support SAP integrations with cloud and third-party platforms
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks
- Participate in audits, compliance reviews, and governance activities
- Provide production support and participate in on-call rotations where required
- Collaborate with SAP functional, development, infrastructure, and project teams during implementations and upgrades
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of SAP Basis administration experience
- SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments
- SAP Kernel upgrades
- SAP application upgrades and migrations
- SAP patching and SPS implementations
- SAP HANA administration
- System refreshes and client copies
- SAP transport management
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with Linux/Unix administration
- Knowledge of Oracle, SAP HANA, or SQL Server databases
- Experience supporting large enterprise SAP environments
- Strong understanding of SAP architecture and landscape design
- Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills
Desirable
- SAP BTP Administration experience
- Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Knowledge of SAP RISE environments
- Exposure to automation and scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
- Experience with SAP Solution Manager, Focused Run, or Cloud ALM
- SAP Fiori and Gateway administration experience
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containers, or DevOps practices
- Knowledge of SAP security and GRC concepts
- Experience with SAP integrations and middleware technologies
- SAP certification(s) in Basis or HANA administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- SAP Certified Technology Associate certifications preferred
- Strong documentation and project delivery experience
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced enterprise environments
