About the role
Based at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital, we are looking for a dynamic, motivated Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) to oversee the development and day-to-day running of our brand-new model of Midwifery Group Practice (MGP). This level 4 Maternity service provides continuity of midwifery care and support to women in the community throughout their pregnancy journey, providing care to a referral population of over 55,000. On any given day, you will be running multidisciplinary team meetings, triaging women, managing the maternity workforce through rostering and performance management, and being the point of contact between the MGP and the core Maternity Unit within the hospital. You will have the opportunity to keep your clinical skills by enjoying time caring for our community’s women and babies, as well as ramping up your administrative skills in the office.
You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the level 3 MUM, clinical midwife educators and senior managers of the hospital as well as the team you will be recruiting into the MGP. Where you’ll be working
Armidale is the highest city in New South Wales with a full complement of the seasons. Set high on the beautiful Northern Tablelands and is known for its beautiful tree lined streets and magnificent autumn colours. You can enjoy alfresco cafes, impressive architecture, a variety of arts and cultural activities. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities such as bushwalking in the nearby World Heritage listed National Parks offering spectacular gorges and waterfalls in Australia. Armidale is an educational centre featuring a university, as well as public and private schools, each providing a level of education comparable to any capital city in Australia.
Requirements: Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as well as Relevant tertiary qualification or has had experience in management. Eligible to drive in NSW with a current NSW Drivers Licence.

Additional Information
- Based on a minimum 18-month commitment to the position or the agreed duration of your contract. All payments to part-time and contract employees will be made on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the terms of your contract, including any approved extensions. If your contract ends before the agreed completion date, you may be required to repay a portion of the incentive. Please note: the increased RHWIS allowance is approved until 30th June 2026. Commencement after this date may be subject to change, including the allowance amount for which the candidate may be eligible.
