What you will be doing
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, IT Operations, the IT Service Desk Leader provides operational leadership for the VEC's IT Service Desk within the Information and Digital Services portfolio. The role plays a key part in ensuring reliable, secure and customer-focused IT support during business-as-usual operations and peak election periods.
This role will be responsible for:
- Leading day-to-day IT Service Desk operations to deliver timely, high-quality, customer-focused support
- Managing incidents and service requests in line with service levels, governance requirements, and security standards
- Monitoring service performance, reporting on outcomes, and implementing improvements
- Coordinating workloads, workforce planning, and rostering to ensure effective service delivery
- Acting as an escalation point for complex or high-impact incidents across technical teams
- Driving continuous improvement through analysis of service data, trends, and user experience feedback
- Leading and developing a high-performing Service Desk team, including performance management and capability uplift
What you will bring to the role
- Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating an IT Service Desk or end-user support function
- Strong knowledge of IT service management frameworks (ITIL-aligned) and Microsoft technologies (e.g. Microsoft 365, Entra ID, endpoint management)
- Proven ability to manage and develop staff in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to improve processes and service delivery outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to the VEC's core values
