From assessments through to closure, Jacobs is well placed to support them on that journey.

As the Mechanical Lead - Resources, you are responsible for providing and leading consultancy services, engineering services, technical input and direction in design to assist with the development and execution of growth strategies that will lead to the growth of the resources business within ANZ. This role will focus on leading the technical aspects in support of the pursuit and delivery of key opportunities within the resources sector. This appointment will focus on developing a Jacobs offering that leverages our existing multi-disciplinary capability providing a unique value proposition for our clients. The role will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, engineering and design technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects.

Key elements of the role will include (but not limited to)

  • To lead and manage the mechanical team in the Resources Hub including discipline engineers and designers.
  • To lead the mechanical engineering elements delivery of study and delivery phases of projects.
  • Hands on in delivery and project management, technically excellent engineering designs and consultancy services.
  • Support project management team to deliver studies and projects, as well as technical change management
  • Carry out independently design / review / assurance on Projects
  • Closely collaborate with offshore GID’s discipline team members.
  • Being instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects in the new energy and resources market.
  • Support cross functional teams, in terms of team development and growth, building technical capability and growing the new energy and resources portfolio
  • Support bid preparation and submittals as required, support section leader, project managers in the delivery of financially successful projects whilst achieving excellent client satisfaction
  • Develop and maintain strong key client relationships - act as a trusted advisor to a select group of Jacobs key clients across the sector
  • Keep abreast of new methods and developments impacting Jacobs in order to recommend change to current or new direction. Track and contribute to industry developments, ensuring Jacobs is applying the latest technical developments
  • Manage complex Mechanical Engineering elements and/or multidisciplinary projects in PM, and potentially DPE roles, delivering on cost, on time, and resulting in client satisfaction.

Here's what you'll need

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree (Professional Registration CPEng highly regarded) and demonstrated professional experience predominantly within the Mining resources sector.
  • Delivered small to large projects, including complex green and brownfields projects, along with overseeing and/or contributing to multidisciplinary teams, and providing critical mechanical and materials handling input from preliminary study phase through to project completion and handover, developing strong client relationships and repeat business.
  • Familiar with the delivery methodology including initiation, development and delivery-phases, the specific requirements and levels of accuracy as well as design maturity required at each delivery gate for resources clients.
  • Robust knowledge of international and local engineering methods, applicable codes and specifications associated with resources projects.
  • Experience with various aspects of the planning, design and commissioning processes, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Track record delivering detailed mechanical engineering design, construction and commissioning oversight, for diverse resource development projects encompassing mining, materials handling, piping, and NPI infrastructure
  • Experience in working with or managing offshore discipline team held in high regard.
  • A strategic and innovative mindset coupled with the ability to solve complex problems, using strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others.
