Associate Director
Bentleys Australia and New Zealand
Ready for more ownership and recognition in your work?
A rare chance for an experienced accountant to step into an Associate Director role where deep client relationships, advisory work and ownership sit at the heart of the role.
The Opportunity
At Bentleys QLD, our Business Services team works alongside SMEs, family businesses and generational clients with whom we have built trusted relationships over many years. These are clients who value advice, continuity and a deep understanding of their business, not just year‑end compliance. We are now looking for an Associate Director who genuinely enjoys working in this environment and takes real pride in building and maintaining strong, long‑term client relationships.
In this role, you will lead a varied portfolio of SME business clients, acting as a trusted adviser and key point of contact as their needs evolve over time. You will work closely with Partners on strategic matters, deliver high‑quality compliance and advisory services, and ensure clients feel supported, understood and confident in the advice they receive.
Your focus will be on relationship‑led service delivery, where knowing the client, their family and their history is just as important as technical excellence.
You will also play an important leadership role within the Business Services team, supporting and developing staff, managing workflow and productivity, and contributing to strong financial outcomes. Through your relationships with clients and internal teams, you will identify advisory opportunities, support sustainable growth and help strengthen Bentleys QLD’s reputation as a trusted adviser to our SME clients.
What You’ll Bring
You are an experienced Chartered accountant who thrives on working closely with SME clients and who genuinely enjoys building rapport, trust and long‑standing professional relationships. You take the time to understand what matters to your clients and are motivated by being their go‑to adviser over the long term, not just delivering technical outcomes.
You bring strong leadership capability and enjoy mentoring and developing people, from graduates through to senior team members, while balancing client needs, budgets and productivity. You are comfortable leading client conversations, managing complex portfolios and delivering both compliance and advisory work to a high professional standard.
Commercially minded and organised, you take ownership of job budgets, productivity and fee management, and understand how strong client relationships underpin sustainable business performance.
You communicate clearly, collaborate naturally across teams and live the values of Bentleys QLD, bringing a relationship‑first mindset, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement in everything you do.
