To support these efforts, our team is focused on designing robust, scalable backend workflows that simplify the complexities of energy retail and VPP management.
As a Commercial Operations Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in scaling these initiatives within the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM), ensuring the highly reliable execution of our backend and commercial processes. Operating within a lean, agile team, we are seeking a detail-oriented professional to ensure seamless day-to-day execution across B2B transactions, payments, and pricing strategy, while maintaining regulatory compliance and exceptional customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
- Support daily operations for Tesla’s energy retail products, including payment reconciliation, and B2B service orders processing, and data governance to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Build and refine pricing frameworks to guide retail tariff development, evaluate commercial scenarios, and drive margin improvements.
- Leverage quantitative data to analyse electricity market pricing trends, delivering actionable insights that shape our broader commercial strategy.
- Act as a primary point of contact with external stakeholders (utilities, distributors, regulators) to ensure compliance with National Electricity Market (NEM) rules, AER guidelines, and program-specific VPP requirements.
- Develop and maintain scalable, automated backend processes to support retail electricity and VPP programs, prioritizing operational efficiency and data accuracy.
- Partner closely with Customer Support to resolve complex technical escalations, while collaborating with Engineering, Accounting, IT, and Compliance to implement systemic backend solutions.
- Monitor and audit performance to identify inefficiencies, driving continuous improvement using first principles thinking.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in energy retail operations, utility program management, or a related field
- Deep understanding of the Australian energy market structures (NEM), billing systems, and compliance frameworks (e.g., retail licensing, AER, AEMO procedures)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a lean, fast-paced setting, while prioritizing positive customer outcomes & regulatory adherence
- Proven ability to handle technical troubleshooting and data organization to generate actionable insights
- Proficient in data analytics and tools like SQL, Excel, Ziplabs, Tableau, or other reporting software
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or business-related discipline is preferred, but equivalent practical experience is highly valued.
- Highly organized, with a track record of prioritizing tasks in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
