About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to lead the Mental Health and Disability Investigation team within the Coroners Prevention Unit (CPU). The role combines people leadership, clinical expertise and investigative case work to support coronial investigations and help identify opportunities to prevent future deaths.

As Manager, Mental Health and Disability, you will lead a high-performing team within the CPU while managing your own portfolio of complex coronial matters.

You will:

  • Lead, coach and develop a specialist investigations team in a high-volume, sensitive environment
  • Provide expert advice and investigative support to Coroners, including analysing complex clinical, forensic and legal material
  • Identify contributing factors and opportunities for prevention in mental health and disability-related deaths
  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and case summaries to inform coronial investigations
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across government and the health sector
  • Contribute to policy insight and system-level improvements through your expertise

About you

You are a thoughtful and experienced leader with:

  • Strong clinical expertise in mental health systems
  • Proven experience in complex investigations, critical analysis and evidence-based decision making
  • The ability to interpret and communicate sensitive and complex information with clarity and care
  • A collaborative approach, with a track record of building trusted stakeholder relationships
  • Resilience and sound judgement to operate effectively in a challenging and meaningful environment
