At Komatsu, we’re looking for a commercially minded

Senior Tax Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role supporting tax compliance, reporting, governance, and process improvement.

This is an opportunity to step into a broad corporate tax role where you’ll work closely with the Tax Manager and senior finance leaders, contributing to strategic projects, and help drive continuous improvement within a global organisation.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and lodge Activity Statements with Australian Taxation Office.
  • Prepare income tax and Fringe Benefits Tax returns, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure timely payment of all tax obligations.
  • Prepare monthly income tax provisions and tax reconciliations.
  • Assist with statutory reporting, including preparing tax disclosures.
  • Support any audits and reviews by the Australian Taxation Office and relevant State Revenue Authorities.
  • Assist with reporting to the overseas parent company.
  • Assist with transfer pricing obligations of the business.
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors in relation to tax matters.
  • Support continuous improvement of tax processes, controls, and governance.
  • Assist with tax advice and implementation of any legislative developments.

What we are looking for

  • CA or CPA qualification is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in Australian tax accounting and tax compliance.
  • At least 5 years of overall experience in finance, with exposure to Australian tax responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of Australian tax compliance requirements, including areas such as activity statements, income tax and fringe benefits tax.
  • Experience working in an in-house or commercial environment will be highly regarded.
  • Candidates from public practice or audit backgrounds may also be considered where relevant tax experience is present.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and confidence working with detailed financial data.
  • Experience with SAP and MS Dynamics is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to work independently in a small team environment.
  • Clear communication skills and a willingness to learn, collaborate and take ownership of a specialist portfolio.
