Join us as a Hydrographic Surveyor, where you will work as part of a team that is responsible for contributing to the safe navigation of all the commercial vessels that transit the 90kms of channels, river reaches and berths in and out of the Port of Brisbane.
You will install, calibrate, operate, and maintain all hydrographic and metocean equipment, on the Port’s dedicated survey vessels, in addition to providing technical support to the Port’s dredging fleet as required. You will actively be involved in supporting external clients, on a range of challenging projects, mainly along the Queensland coast.
You will be responsible for the production and timely distribution of high-quality survey deliverables to PBPL’s key stakeholders and take an active role in the project management of external survey projects.

- You hold a degree in surveying, or similar discipline and ideally experience in dredging and port surveying.
- You ideally are a Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS) Level 1 or 2.
- You have extensive knowledge using a variety of hydrographic surveying software packages, ideally QPS Software Suite, Caris Software Suite, Applanix POSPAC and Microstation.
- You have extensive knowledge and experience operating a range of hydrographic equipment, specifically Reson, Norbit and Kongsberg Multibeam Systems and Applanix POS MV’s.
- You are proficient at mobilising, installing, testing, and calibrating hydrographic and metocean equipment and have extensive experience in processing and interpreting bathymetric datasets.
- You have strong computer literacy skills specifically around the integration of sensor equipment. Python coding experience desirable.
- You have trailer boat launching experience and a medium rigid licence is desirable.
- You’re an effective communicator, able to work independently and collaboratively within a team and can build effective working relationships.
- You are comfortable to work away from home as required.
