Senior Legal Counsel - Energy/Projects/Finance

A leading Australian company in the renewable energy space is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its growing in-house legal team.

The Role

This is a growth role that will see up work closely with senior stakeholders across the business and play a key role in energy, projects and financing of matters across the globe.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead and negotiate complex project and finance agreements for BESS projects, including:

-Offtake and revenue arrangements;

-Connection and grid agreements;

-EPC, OEM and equipment supply contracts; and

-Project finance and tripartite documentation.

• Provide legal support across development and operations, delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice.
• Identify, allocate and mitigate legal and commercial risk across the project lifecycle.
• Manage legal approvals, external budgets and governance processes in line with companies internal frameworks.
• Coordinate stakeholders and legal workflows to support key project milestones across multiple jurisdictions.

The Ideal Candidate

• 6+ years PQE from a leading energy, projects or project finance team.
• Strong renewable energy experience is essential.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to advise calmly and confidently in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
