About The Role

Council is seeking an experienced and proactive People & Culture Business Partner to join their team in a true generalist HR role. This position will partner closely with managers across the organisation to provide practical advice and support on a broad range of people matters including employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, recruitment, policy interpretation, and workforce initiatives.

The successful candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced environment, building strong stakeholder relationships, and providing contemporary People & Culture guidance aligned with organisational objectives and the NSW Local Government Award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders across Council to provide strategic and operational People & Culture advice and support
  • Provide accurate guidance on employment conditions, industrial instruments, Council policies, and procedures
  • Support managers with employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, grievances, and workplace investigations
  • Coach and guide leaders through difficult workplace conversations and decision-making processes
  • Prepare employee correspondence, reports, and documentation relating to people matters and disciplinary processes
  • Attend meetings with managers and employees to provide People & Culture support and advice
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and promotion of People & Culture policies, initiatives, and workforce strategies
  • Contribute to recruitment and selection activities including advertising advice, interview support, and panel participation
  • Undertake transactional People & Culture activities across the employee lifecycle
  • Build collaborative relationships across the organisation to support positive workplace culture and consistent people practices
  • Participate in People & Culture projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required
