Behind the operation sits a rapidly evolving technology environment, data ecosystem and a growing focus on AI-enabled decision making. Yumbah is investing heavily in building a unified data and AI capability that supports smarter, faster and more connected decisions across farming, finance and commercial operations. As part of this transformation, Yumbah is seeking a Data & AI Engineer to take ownership of building and operationalising its core data and AI assets end-to-end.

About The Role

The Data & AI Engineer is a hands-on technical role responsible for building Yumbah’s production data models, pipelines and AI capability. This role is responsible for turning data and AI strategy into working, production-grade systems. You will design and deliver data models that unifies financial, operational and farming data, while also developing conversational and agentic AI tools that safely enable business decisions and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Build and maintain Yumbah’s core data engineering environment, including pipelines, lakehouses/warehouses and BI reporting assets.
  • Design and implement a canonical data model integrating finance, aquaculture and commercial operational data.
  • Build and deploy a secure conversational AI agent that lets users access enterprise data through natural language, with governance controls in place.
  • Implement semantic modelling and governed self-service BI capability in Power BI.
  • Automate financial reporting, reconciliation and control processes to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
  • Establish production-grade standards for AI and data tools, including prototype-to-production pathways, monitoring and auditability.
  • Support integration of IoT and operational data sources across farming sites into enterprise data platforms.
  • Ensure data governance, security, privacy and compliance standards are embedded across all solutions.

ABOUT YOU

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate

  • Experience in data engineering, analytics engineering in a similar hands-on build role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience delivering production-quality code.
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong Power BI capability including data modelling (DAX), semantic layers and RLS.
  • Experience implementing or working with LLM-based systems such as RAG, agentic workflows or tool-calling architectures.
  • Practical experience using AI development tools a production-aware environment.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, pipelines and analytics engineering principles.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into scalable data and AI solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
