We are seeking a System Controller Team Support Officer to join our team on a fixed term basis, with the potential for extension.

The Opportunity
As the System Controller Team Support Officer you will provide structured support to System Controllers by managing routine monitoring, communications, data collation, and administrative tasks, allowing qualified System Controllers to focus on real‑time system operation, incident response, and proactive risk management.
The System Controller Team Support Officer is an entry‑level operational role designed to build capability, resilience, and capacity within the System Control function during high‑workload day‑shift operations.
What you'll do
- Monitor and manage the Duty Officer inbox, SCADA alarms, and notifications from Intelligent Network and IoT platforms (including SCADA, SIPS, TaKaDu, Meniscus, Derived Flow, and related systems), triaging, categorising, and escalating items in accordance with documented procedures.
- Support incident and emergency management activities by logging events, maintaining timelines, collating operational information, and preparing draft notifications under the direction of a System Controller.
- Support effective communication between System Control, field staff, internal operational teams, and external agencies by tracking actions, following up assigned tasks, and maintaining accurate and timely records.
- Prepare, update, and maintain operational records including Protecht entries, incident documentation, shift handover notes, and shared operational registers using approved templates and standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational resilience initiatives by supporting process improvements, documentation, training materials, and implementation of agreed technology or workflow enhancements.
What you'll need to be successful
Essential Criteria
- Certificate IV, Diploma, Engineering qualification, or equivalent experience in operations, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Foundational understanding of water and wastewater networks and infrastructure.
- Ability to work with operational data, reports, and multiple information systems.
- Aptitude for using information technology including computerised control and monitoring systems, geographic information systems, incident management systems, enterprise systems, and engineering drawings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across operational and technical teams.
- Willingness to learn, actively embrace change, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Desirable Criteria
- Exposure to utilities, infrastructure, operations, or control environments.
- Understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Familiarity with SCADA, IoT, incident management, or asset management systems.
- Understanding of automation and control of operations.
- Experience in engineering operational environment with automation and control driving the operations.
- Capability to conceptualise and perform hydraulic calculations relating to pressure, flow, and volume.
- Understanding of continuous improvement or project support methodologies.
