Why this role exists

We're looking for a Risk Engineer to join our Sydney team. You'll be at the intersection of financial risk management and modern software engineering embedding intelligent controls into banking systems, building real-time monitoring solutions, and driving the adoption of AI-powered risk frameworks across our platform.

This is a high-ownership role for someone who can move between regulatory rigour and hands-on technical delivery. You should be excited to be in the Sydney office building alongside the team.

What You'll Do

You'll own a portfolio of risk engineering work across the Brontë platform spanning control automation, model development, stakeholder engagement and product innovation.

Risk management & control engineering

• Design and embed automated risk controls into banking processes, ensuring regulatory compliance with Basel III/IV and APRA CPS 230.
• Build risk models and integrate them with real-time monitoring systems.
• Develop Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and automate control testing across the risk lifecycle.
• Work with data scientists to enhance anomaly detection in risk patterns.

Software engineering & automation

• Architect and deploy risk technology solutions, integrating with core banking systems.
• Develop and maintain APIs and risk-control automation scripts.
• Leverage Neo4J and LangChain to create risk-aware decision models.
• Enhance risk frameworks using AI and machine learning.

Risk culture & stakeholder engagement

• Partner with risk, compliance, and IT teams to ensure seamless adoption of risk technology.
• Translate regulatory requirements into technical implementations.
• Drive risk-awareness training with automation-friendly tools.

Product innovation & growth

• Drive product research and development with AI, UX and engineering teams using customer insights.
• Grow product consumption within current customers and support pre-sales into new customers and markets.

What We're Looking For

• Background in banking, consulting, or a high-growth fintech or risk or data analysis
• Strong understanding of Basel III/IV and APRA CPS 230 regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency with Neo4J, LangChain, and API development.
• Experience applying AI and machine learning to risk or compliance problems.
• Strong analytical fluency and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Regtech or B2B SaaS exposure is a plus.
