Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Health Information Services (HIS) Computer Clerks to join the Health Information Service department.

Northern Health is a fast‑paced health service in Melbourne’s growing northern region, committed to safe, kind and collaborative care.

Services are delivered across multiple campuses including Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows, Bundoora, Craigieburn, Mernda and Kilmore, with Mental Health Services across several additional sites.

About the Role

As a HIS Computer Clerk, you will provide essential clerical support to ensure health information is accurate, accessible and secure.

This multi‑skilled role includes scanning, records management, reception and customer service, supporting effective patient care and compliance with privacy requirements.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Scanning and processing clinical documentation
  • Maintaining and quality checking health records
  • Providing reception and customer service support
  • Managing enquiries (phone and in person)
  • Retrieving and maintaining patient records
  • Releasing information in line with privacy requirements
  • Using patient administration systems
  • Supporting audits and quality activities

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Clerical/administrative experience (health preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Confidence using electronic systems and MS Office
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
