The Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, this standalone Payroll Specialist role is responsible for end-to-end payroll across a high-volume workforce of approximately 600 employees, managing both weekly and monthly pay runs. The position sits at the centre of payroll operations, partnering closely with Finance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting, while navigating complex Awards and EBAs.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payroll across 600 employees
  • Management of shift allowances, ensuring correct calculations and deductions
  • Interpretation and application of complex Awards and EBAs
  • Maintaining strong governance, compliance, and payroll accuracy
  • Collaboration with Finance across payroll tax, month-end, and reporting
  • Supporting payroll process improvements and system efficiencies
  • Working within iChris (preferred) and internal Time & Attendance systems

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Awards and EBAs
  • Confident managing high-volume payrolls in fast-paced environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills highly regarded
  • Confident communicator with the ability to work across multiple stakeholders
