Who we are
Footprints is a leading not for profit organisation supporting older Australians and people experiencing mental health challenges. Since 1991, we have grown into a multi-site provider known for person-led, innovative and integrated services that enhance wellbeing, independence and social connection. Through strong partnerships across health, housing and community sectors, we deliver meaningful, lasting impact. As a Best Workplace Award winner, we are guided by strong leadership, collaboration and a shared commitment to strengthening communities.
About the role
The Rostering Senior will oversee rosters across Aged Care Support at Home (SAH), the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), and a diverse range of other community service contracts, fee-for-service arrangements, and brokered packages to ensure continuity, quality of support, and robust clinical governance.
The role will work collaboratively with other departments to achieve client outcomes aligned with Footprints vision and purpose, seek to maximise the employee experience, meet financial performance targets and adhere to Company Policies and Procedures, and relevant legislation.
This role requires a considered, resilient, and caring approach to balance both client and In-home support worker needs on a daily basis. This role is also required to maintain oversight of procedures and staff and participate in the After Hours phone support service.
What you will be doing
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and provide dedicated support to the rostering team to deliver consistent 7-day coverage across all program areas.
- Provide oversight to the After-Hours Assistance Phone Support service, including supervision of After-Hours Assistants, acting as an escalation point for issues, incidents and mandatory reporting on agreed days, and review and refinement of associated processes and documentation.
- Partner with Managers to resolve service gaps, proactively plan capacity for new client intake, and manage workforce risk across all service contracts.
- Adapt rostering strategies to meet specific compliance and billing requirements, ensuring financial sustainability by actively managing overtime, travel time, and minimising external agency usage.
- Ensure any roster complaints are investigated and responded to in a timely and courteous manner, including review of processes and implementation of continuous quality improvement activities where appropriate.
- Ensure strict compliance with the SCHADS Award, Aged Care Quality Standards, and the specific guidelines of other operational contracts.
- Monitor workforce fatigue and adhere to Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation, promoting a safe working environment for remote and in-home staff.
- Use data, analytics, and systems reporting to improve roster efficiency, workforce utilisation, and strategic planning across the broader business.
- Oversee the delivery of timely and accurate information to payroll to meet complex costing and client billing imperatives across multiple funding streams.
About you
To be successful, you will bring
- Knowledge of the aged care and community services sectors, including a strong understanding of current reform directions, compliance frameworks, and best practice models, coupled with demonstrated extensive rostering or workforce planning experience in complex, multi-contract environments.
- Proven leadership or senior supervisory experience, with a demonstrated ability to inspire, support, and develop a high-performing team that reflects Footprints’ values and a commitment to person-led care.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, translate organisational priorities into tangible service outcomes, and champion continuous improvement and innovation across rostering practices and systems.
- Strong, practical understanding of the SCHADS Award, rostering compliance standards, and fatigue management principles, consistently acting with honesty, transparency, and ethical responsibility in all operational decisions.
- Capable of making sound, data-driven decisions under pressure, managing competing priorities, and acting as a reliable escalation point (including after-hours as required).
- Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to build trusted relationships, influence diverse audiences, and collaborate with Operations Managers, internal teams, partners, and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
- A steadfast commitment to supporting the independence, wellbeing, and dignity of older people and vulnerable clients, ensuring rostering choices always align with clinical governance and person-centred care models.
- Confidence in using complex rostering systems, leveraging data for workforce planning, and demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Current class C driver licence, National Police Check, and any other relevant statutory screening checks as required by service contracts.
