Shape Navigational Safety Across WA’s Waterways
Working for the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) allows you to play a part in connecting the people of Western Australia. We are a progressive organisation. We are leaders in providing safe, accessible, sustainable, and efficient transport services and solutions that promote economic prosperity and enhance the lifestyles of all Western Australians.
The Waterways Safety and Management branch leads the behaviour‑change and compliance programs that keep WA’s navigable waters safe. We deliver targeted safety education and work closely with communities and industry to encourage and enforce responsible use of our waterways. It’s hands‑on, collaborative work with real impact, backed by a friendly culture and opportunities to contribute across Maritime projects. It’s all done in partnership, with State, Commonwealth, local authorities, industry and the community, in a supportive, flexible environment where people collaborate across specialist teams and build capability to make a visible difference.
The Opportunity
Lead the strategic direction of navigational safety across Western Australia’s vast and diverse waterways.
This senior management role offers the opportunity to shape state-wide aids to navigation, aquatic use planning and maritime safety programs that directly support safe, sustainable use of WA’s navigable waters. You’ll balance long‑term infrastructure planning with operational delivery, lead technical specialists, and work closely with government, industry and community stakeholders. If you bring strong maritime expertise, infrastructure leadership and a passion for public safety, this is a chance to make a lasting statewide impact.
