The opportunity
The Emergency Management Lead is a specialist leadership role that ensures Council is prepared to support its community before, during and after emergencies. You'll coordinate emergency management planning, partnerships and preparedness activities, playing a critical part in meeting legislative obligations while providing trusted advice to senior leaders, and working closely with emergency services, government and community partners to achieve strong, coordinated outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinating and maintaining the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP) and sub‑plans
- Leading Council’s preparedness, response support, relief and recovery coordination
- Strengthening community and organisational preparedness through risk assessment and exercises
- Providing specialist advice to senior leaders during emergency events
- Building and sustaining strong multi‑agency partnerships and collaborations
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial emergency management experience
- In depth knowledge of Victorian emergency management legislation and frameworks
- Demonstrated experience in municipal emergency management planning
- Strong stakeholder engagement and multi‑agency coordination capability
- Proven ability to provide high‑level advice in complex, high‑pressure environments
