The Aboriginal Cultural Capability Team Leader provides strategic and operational leadership to cultivate an organisation wide culture that is respectful, inclusive, and responsive to Aboriginal people. This role plays a critical part in driving sustainable cultural change by building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and influencing organisational practices to embed cultural safety at every level.
The role is responsible for coordinating and supporting the delivery of high-impact programs that strengthen cultural capability across the organisation. It shapes and champions the development, implementation, governance, and reporting of initiatives that promote Aboriginal cultural capability, inclusion, and respect, ensuring these efforts are aligned with broader organisational goals.

The Team Leader provides strategic guidance to empower Aboriginal staff and ensure culturally sensitive approaches are integrated into workforce and service delivery activities.
Working closely with executives, line managers, and a range of stakeholders, the role supports the development of sustainable cultural safety frameworks and strengthens governance mechanisms that uphold accountability, policy alignment, and continuous improvement. It also provides bespoke training and advisory support for business units seeking to enhance their cultural capability.
This position requires strong local community connections, and the ability to provide astute, respectful guidance to non-Aboriginal stakeholders. Through its leadership, the Aboriginal Cultural Capability Team Leader enables culturally safe and inclusive practices to be embedded across the organisation, fostering an environment where Aboriginal staff and communities feel respected, valued, and supported.
The Aboriginal Cultural Capability Team Leader will also play a key role in providing cultural mentoring, guidance and support to Aboriginal staff across the District, including trainees and emerging leaders, while strengthening professional development pathways, cultural capability, career progression opportunities, and workforce retention through culturally safe and supportive practices.
