Melbourne Pathology is one of Victoria’s largest diagnostic pathology laboratories, committed to providing high quality healthcare throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate.

A Senior Medical Scientist is required to join our laboratory at the Epworth Hospital (Richmond). This position is a second in charge role with a focus on Blood Banking and offers operational support for our network of Branch Laboratories. These laboratories perform testing within the disciplines of Haematology, Immunohaematology and Chemical Pathology, servicing the needs of the hospital 24 hours, 7 days per week.

Position requirements

  • Significant experience (more than five years) in a diagnostic laboratory with Australian industry experience specifically Haematology and Blood Banking is essential
  • Significant experience as a Trainer and a special interest in Blood Banking and Haematology Morphology is essential
  • The ability to work as a part of a fast paced dynamic team and unsupervised when required
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to OH&S
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation/equipment
  • Supervisory experience would be advantageous.

This is a full-time position (38 hours) working rotating shifts Monday to Sunday, including overnight shifts.
