What you will be doing
Reporting directly to Senior Manager, Communication, the Senior Communication Officer delivers strategic communications support that protects and enhances the organisation's reputation, ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across external channels. You will work collaboratively across teams to shape compelling narratives and provide expert advice that supports organisational priorities and stakeholder engagement.
This role will:
- Develop, write, edit and manage high-quality corporate publications and reports
- Ensure consistency in tone, style branding and accessibility across VEC communications
- Support media activities, including drafting media responses, releases and briefing materials
- Prepare spokesperson briefs and background materials for senior leaders
- Support publication management processes and systems
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, engaging content
- Contribute to continuous improvement of content and processes.
What you will bring to the role
- Advanced writing and editing skills, with experience producing high-quality reports and communication materials.
- Strong understanding of style guides, branding and accessibility standards.
- Experience supporting media or corporate communications, ideally in a public sector workplace.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships across the organisation.
- Commitment to the VEC's core values.
