Primary objective

Undertake projects and training associated with achieving a `best practice` delivery of Payroll Services within a Corporate Shared

Service environment. This position contributes to improving the level of efficiency, effectiveness and quality in the delivery of

payroll services to Northern Territory Government agencies.

Context statement

The Assurance and Process Improvement Branch (API) is a unit separate from the Business As Usual (BAU) functions of

Employment Services. API provides an independent assurance function focusing on quality assurance, projects and processes and

the provision of training and support.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. With guidance from the Assurance and Process Improvement Manager, undertake product related continuous improvement

projects.

2. Recruit and onboard new starters to Employment Services and be the primary point of training for these employees.

3. Maintain the integrity and accuracy of publications, web sites, documents and workbooks of the Assurance and Process

Improvement Branch.

4. Conduct both individual and group training relating to legislation, standard processes and procedures, and system changes.

5. Respond to service-related processing queries and undertake research where required.

6. Role model, promote and actively demonstrate a culture of knowledge and information sharing and continuous learning to

foster a customer-centric culture and team-based approach to service delivery.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Proven ability and experience supervising and training staff, placing a strong focus on staff development and independent

problem solving, undertaking one-on-one performance reviews and discussions, and implementing plans to manage

performance issues when necessary.

2. Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the interpretation and application of employment legislation pertaining to

payroll, preferably in the Public Sector, or similar environment.

3. Effective communication skills to articulate processes clearly and concisely to a diverse audience; and demonstrated ability to

design and deliver effective training programs in both individual and group settings.

4. Demonstrated self-motivation, exercising initiative and flexibility to manage projects and meet deadlines; including the ability

to research information and prepare finding for senior officers.

5. Proven experience in recruitment and the provision of ongoing support to new starters, including the ability to positively

model required behaviours and coach.

6. Demonstrated high-level computer literacy skills, including, experience working with mainframe computerised payroll systems

and complex HR information systems, as well as Microsoft Office software packages.

7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,

accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.

Desirable

1. Experience in the development and writing of training documents, procedures and practices.
