United Petroleum is Australia’s leading independently owned fuel and convenience retailer, with a rapidly expanding national network of service stations, convenience stores, and retail developments.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Draftsperson to join our construction team in Melbourne. This role is suited to a candidate with strong AutoCAD and Revit capability, a sound understanding of construction and documentation practices, and experience preparing planning and tender-stage documentation across commercial, retail, or construction projects.

Working closely with Project Managers and internal stakeholders, the successful candidate will play a key role in preparing planning drawings and tender-stage documentation for a range of new-build, refurbishment, and retrofit projects across our national portfolio.

This position is being offered on an initial 6-month contract basis, with the potential for extension up to 12 months based on project requirements and performance.

This position is office-based and requires attendance at the Melbourne office five days per week from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. The role is based at our Head Office in Hawthorn, conveniently located just a short walk from Glenferrie Station.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare town planning drawing packages including site plans, store plans, external elevations, and signage drawings for planning permit applications;
  • Produce tender-stage drawing packages for Design & Construct (D&C) and self-build projects;
  • Prepare retrofit and refurbishment drawings for existing sites and store upgrade projects;
  • Maintain organised project folders, drawing registers, and project documentation records;
  • Update, maintain, and develop the company’s standard drawing suite and associated documentation standards;
  • Support efficient project workflows and internal delivery deadlines; and
  • Support the delivery of multiple projects concurrently within a fast-paced construction and development environment.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong proficiency in both AutoCAD and Revit is essential;
  • Experience preparing planning and tender-stage documentation within a commercial, retail, or construction environment;
  • Sound understanding of construction detailing, coordination, and documentation practices;
  • Knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations, NCC requirements, and relevant Australian Standards;
  • Experience or exposure to fuel industry standards and service station developments, including AS 4897 and AS 1940 , would be highly regarded;
  • Experience or familiarity with vehicle swept path analysis and truck turning assessments would be highly regarded;
  • Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural), Diploma of Building Design, or equivalent qualification;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and coordinated documentation;
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage workload across multiple concurrent projects without compromising quality; and
  • A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
