We're hiring a Financial Controller to partner directly with me and take operational ownership of the finance function.

This is a newly created role at a not-for-profit aged care and disability services provider that's been operating in the Mildura region for 50 years. We're at a stage where the demands on the CFO have shifted toward strategic initiatives, board engagement, and broader executive responsibilities, and we need a senior operator alongside us to own the day-to-day delivery.

About SRS

Sunraysia Residential Services Inc. delivers NDIS support services, Commonwealth Support at Home, contracted state government services, and an NDIS Plan Management service line. We've recently implemented a new CRM, are progressively automating accounts payable, have a new HRIS underway, and are investing in AI-assisted workforce management and internal tooling. There's genuine momentum here, and the Financial Controller will own and extend it.

Mildura sits on the Murray River in north-west Victoria. A thriving regional economy, affordable housing, family-friendly, and within easy reach of Melbourne and Adelaide.

What the role involves

You'll own the operational core of finance: month-end, reporting, compliance, audit, budgeting, cash flow, systems, and team leadership. You'll lead and develop a high-performing finance team, oversee the financial operations of our NDIS Plan Management service, partner with operational managers across the business, and drive the next wave of automation and systems work across the function.

This isn't a maintenance role. SRS is mid-transformation, and we want someone who'll shape where the function goes next.

Who we're looking for

CA or CPA qualified with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related discipline, and at least five years of post-qualification experience. Your background is broader than pure tax or compliance: public practice, corporate finance, transaction services, private equity, investment analysis, or a substantive in-house commercial finance role, working with organisations at meaningful scale (broadly $50m to $100m+ in revenue or transaction value).

A genuine people leader. You've hired, coached, given direct feedback, and developed others into stronger professionals.

Advanced Excel, comfortable with Power BI / Power Query / SQL or similar, and you've helped shape at least one significant CRM or ERP implementation. A genuine interest in AI and how emerging technology can be applied to finance and operations.

At a stage of your career where you're looking for somewhere your work matters, and either already in Mildura or genuinely drawn to regional life.
