About the role

The role of Senior Finance Officer ensures that billing, electronic claiming, receipting, reconciliations, monthly statements (including Home Care Package, and Tax Invoices), and month end activities are carried out in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with relevant legislation. The Senior Finance Officer will also be providing operational support with account enquiries relating to billing, statements, and debt collection.

This role is a permanent full-time position based at St Leonards with hybrid working opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Review and resolve anomalies / variances in a timely manner
  • Prepare, review and process the invoicing/billing of fees and contributions in line with legislation and/or agreements
  • Processing of reimbursements and refunds/discharges in a timely manner
  • Generate Statements/Invoices in line with HammondCare procedures
  • Reconciliation of funding received and prepare estimation of billing for the end of month
  • Prepare Activity statements in accordance with HammondCare procedures
  • Support the centralised debt collection team with account and debt related queries.
  • Process payments including cash, cheques, EFT, direct debits and credit card in the appropriate system. Issue receipts as required. Prepare reconciliations and journal entries as required.
  • Investigate and respond to account enquiries via phone, email and mail within documented timeframes. Enquiries may be received from staff, clients, residents, financial representatives, Government Departments and other third parties. Enquiries may include but are not limited to querying of cash or cheque receipts, fee structures, refunds and explanation of statements processed.
  • Data Analysis with some data entry to identify trends and matters to be investigated further.
  • Appropriate escalation and follow-up actions to other members of the Finance teams as required.
  • Present a friendly and professional face to external enquirers and internal HammondCare staff
  • Ad hoc projects as required: Including increase in adoption of work orders across the business and enhancements to exception reporting.

About You

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • Minimum of a Certificate IV in Accounting / Management / Business Administration or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role including accounts receivable, billing, and collections
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Negotiation skills, with a customer focused approach
  • Ability to handle difficult and sensitive conversations with empathy, patience and professionalism
  • Immediate to advanced computer skills, specifically MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in aged care highly regarded
