About the Role
Location: Northern suburbs of Melbourne
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Production Supervisor will lead day-to-day operations across a complex manufacturing environment operating automated and manual production lines.
This role will suit a hands-on manufacturing leader who enjoys being highly visible on the floor, developing teams, solving operational challenges and driving improvements across safety, quality and production performance.
The operation manufactures a large and diverse product range within a fast-moving production environment and is currently undergoing major investment in systems, automation and site capability.
You will lead a team of operators and Team Leaders across day shift operations while working closely with maintenance, quality and planning teams to ensure production targets, quality standards and customer expectations are consistently achieved.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities across day shift operations.
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across the production team.
- Plan labour and allocate resources to meet production requirements.
- Develop, mentor and support Team Leaders and production operators.
- Monitor and report on operational KPI performance including output, waste, downtime and labour efficiency.
- Ensure GMP, HACCP and food safety standards are consistently maintained.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause investigations relating to production and quality issues.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across production processes.
- Support SOP development, training programmes and workforce capability development.
- Coordinate closely with maintenance teams to minimise downtime and improve reliability.
- Contribute positively to operational change initiatives and system improvements.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the following
- Previous experience in a Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Leadership role within food manufacturing.
- Highly process-driven FMCG manufacturing experience highly advantageous.
- Strong people leadership capability with the ability to build team engagement and accountability.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability across production processes and equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety, GMP and HACCP requirements.
- Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and operational optimisation initiatives.
- Exposure to ERP systems and production planning environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
