As a Workplace Health and Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our people are supported in safe, compliant, and high-performing work environments. You will oversee and embed WHS best practices across key business initiatives, with a strong focus on supporting national office relocation projects.
By proactively managing risk, providing expert advice, and championing both physical and psychological safety, you will help create environments where our people can thrive—enabling Hostplus to continue delivering strong outcomes for our members
The opportunity
This is a dynamic
6-month fixed-term opportunity within our People, Performance and Culture team, where you will:
- Partner with project teams to integrate WHS requirements into office relocation projects, ensuring safety and compliance is embedded at every stage
- Conduct site risk assessments, support workplace readiness activities, and ensure safe transitions across multiple locations
- Identify hazards and implement effective risk controls to prevent incidents during workplace changes
- Deliver ergonomic assessments across office, hybrid and home environments, with practical recommendations to improve safety and wellbeing
- Support incident, hazard and injury management, including investigations, reporting and return-to-work planning
- Lead psychosocial risk management initiatives, supporting a mentally healthy and resilient workplace
- Provide expert advice, coaching and training to leaders and employees to uplift WHS capability and foster a strong safety culture
This role offers a unique opportunity to influence how safety is embedded into organisational change while contributing to continuous improvement across our WHS practices.
About You
You are an experienced WHS professional who brings both technical expertise and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
You Will Demonstrate
- Proven experience in WHS advisory roles, including risk assessments, hazard management and safety improvement initiatives
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and the ability to apply it across different jurisdictions
- Experience supporting project-based work such as office relocations, fit-outs or workplace transformations
- Hands-on experience managing psychosocial risks and promoting mental wellbeing in the workplace
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and coach at all levels
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently to deliver outcomes
- Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Cert IV / Diploma desirable)
