Details: Are you passionate about press relations and storytelling? Do you have a knack for crafting compelling narratives and building strong relationships with media outlets? If so, we want you on our team!
The Health and Community Services Directorate Media and Issues Management team play a key role in promoting the Directorate's initiatives and programs for the community to Canberra media outlets.
We are a bunch of ex-journalists and frequent news consumers who live for the adrenaline pump that working in media always delivers!
Our ideal colleague will be someone who can read between the lines, visual front-page stories, can work at speed when the pressure is on and can still have a laugh at the end of a big day.

Eligibility/Other requirements
- A minimum of two years’ demonstrated experience in a government media advisory role or comparable newsroom environment, with direct involvement in media relations, issues management and stakeholder engagement.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations or a related discipline are desirable.
- A current Driver’s Licence is desirable.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. Selection may be based on curriculum vitae, application and referees reports only. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.
Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated off ice based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT, part-time hours, job-sharing, flexible start, and finish times.
This role does not include social media or media buying.
