This role supports Climate Services, contributing to climate science initiatives across Pacific Island nations. The position focuses on developing high-quality climate datasets, maintaining their portal, and analysing climate variability and extreme events.

In this role you will,

• Maintain and enhance the Climate Indices for Pacific Sectorial Applications (CIPSA) portal.
• Develop and manage high-quality, quality-controlled climate datasets.
• Analyse climate trends, variability, and extreme weather patterns in the Pacific region.
• Produce scientific papers, reports, and insights for stakeholders.
• Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions to Pacific stakeholders.
• Collaborate with international and regional partners including local organizations.
• Contribute to research discussions, reporting, and program delivery.

What you need to succeed

• Strong background in climate science and climate change analysis.
• Good knowledge of meteorological datasets and data quality/homogeneity challenges.
• Experience in statistical analysis and handling large datasets.
• Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of climate variability, extreme events, and Pacific region dynamics.
• Ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Must be eligible for Baseline Security Clearance.
